Kalpathy<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Kalpathi<\/strong>\u00a0is a residential area in\u00a0Palakkad<\/a>\u00a0city,\u00a0\u00a0It is famous for the\u00a0Viswanatha Swamy Temple<\/a>, which is located along the banks of the Kalpathy river, one of the tributaries of the\u00a0Bharathapuzha<\/a>. Kalpathy is also famous for its agraharam, or traditional village. It is the first heritage village in Kerala. The annual festival\u00a0Kalpathy Ratholsavam<\/a>\u00a0is held here, with chariots as the main attraction<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

SILENT VALLEY \nNATIONAL PARK\n<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Silent Valley National Park<\/strong>\u00a0is a\u00a0national park<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Kerala<\/a>,\u00a0India<\/a>. It is located in the\u00a0Nilgiri hills<\/a>\u00a0and has a core area of 89.52\u00a0km2<\/sup>\u00a0(34.56\u00a0sq\u00a0mi). It is surrounded by a buffer zone of 148\u00a0km2<\/sup>\u00a0(57\u00a0sq\u00a0mi). This national park has some rare species of flora and fauna. Silent Valley National Park was explored in 1847 by the botanist\u00a0Robert Wight<\/a>.\u00a0It is located in the border of\u00a0Mannarkkad<\/a>\u00a0Taluk of\u00a0Palakkad district. PARAMBIKULAM TIGER RESERVE <\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve<\/strong>, which also includes the erstwhile Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, is a 643.66 square kilometres (248.5\u00a0sq\u00a0mi)\u00a0protected area<\/a>\u00a0lying in\u00a0Palakkad district<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Thrissur district<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Kerala<\/a>\u00a0state,\u00a0South India<\/a>. The\u00a0Wildlife Sanctuary<\/a>, which had an area of 285 square kilometres (110\u00a0sq\u00a0mi) was established in part in 1973 and 1984. It is in the Sungam range of hills between the\u00a0Anaimalai Hills<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Nelliampathy Hills<\/a>. Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as part of the Parambikulam\u00a0Tiger Reserve<\/a>\u00a0on 19 February 2010.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

MALAMPUZHA DAM<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Malampuzha Dam<\/strong>\u00a0is the second largest dam and\u00a0reservoirs<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Kerala<\/a>,\u00a0located near\u00a0Palakkad<\/a>, in the state of\u00a0Kerala<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0South India<\/a>, built post independence by the then\u00a0Madras state<\/a>. Situated in the scenic hills of the\u00a0Western Ghats<\/a>\u00a0in the background it is a combination of a\u00a0masonry dam<\/a>\u00a0with a length of 1,849 metres and an\u00a0earthen dam<\/a>\u00a0with a length of 220 metres making it the longest dam in the state.The dam is 355 feet high and impounds the\u00a0Malampuzha River<\/a>, a tributary of\u00a0Bharathappuzha<\/a>, Kerala’s second longest river.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Palakkad Fort is said to have existed from very ancient times, but is believed to have been built in its present form in 1766 A.D., but little is known about its early history. The local ruler, Palakkad Achan, was originally a tributary of the Zamorin, but became independent in the early eighteenth century. In 1757, he sent a representative to Hyder Ali seeking help against an invasion threatened by the Zamorin.
